So this weekend was 2012's turn. This year we decided to stay at a new venue. We chose Petervale farm. www.petervale.net. It was wonderful. The camp site was metres from the dam under tall trees so wonderfully shady. The dam was lovely to swim in and there were also a boat and canoe to ride in.
It is a working organic fruit farm and also has some animals. I have never met such friendly farm animals before. Every animal came up to the fence to say hello (donkey, horse, pigs, goats, lambs, buck and rabbits). There are 4 pet dogs that wander the farm, two of which adopted us for the weekend. There is also a fat pig (Henry) that meanders around searching for more food, that followed us halfway back to our campsite before getting bored.
Some of the family slept in huge tipi's that are permanently erected. We decided to use a tent and B had her first camping experience. There was a huge camp fire area and she spent many hours throwing pine cones in the fire and many more throwing pine cones in the dam (when we weren't swimming or boating). There are also chalets on the farm for those less rustic types. The scenery was amazing. The weekend lovely.
