Me
Hi, I'm Melody and this is my blog. I'll be writing about life as a working mom in Cape Town, South Africa. I have two cherubs, Becca and Laria and a hands-on husband (thank goodness).
I was born in Cape Town. I attended Kirstenhof primary school then Wynberg girls Junior and High. In grade 7 my parents divorced and in grade 9 my mom remarried and we moved across country to Pretoria. I attended the Glen high school and then Tukkies where I studied to be a foundation phase teacher.
I taught in Pretoria for 2 years then decided to teach English in Taiwan for a year (it was amazing). When I came home my mom had previously moved to the Wilderness so I decided to move there too. I taught there for a few years and met my husband in George. We decide to move to Cape Town and we got married here. I taught at a couple schools here till I found my place teaching at a local oral deaf school (i love special needs teaching).
We had 2 children 3 and a half years apart and I have felt very settled and happy here. At the end of 2012 my husband was offered a job in Pretoria that was too good to turn down so he left January to go live there and we are following in April after I've finished the school term. In Pretoria I'm going to try being a stay at home or work from home mom so I can spend more time with my girls as they grow, I'm toying with the idea of home schooling but it is such a non existant thing in Pretoria that it might be too hard.

Little L
Laria was born on the 16th June 2012. It is a public holiday in South Africa and I'm so thrilled that she'll never have to go to school on her birthdays. She was born by emergency c-section at Vincent Palotti hospital. Birth story to follow soon. She weighed 3.8kg. She is such a chilled laid back child, always happy, always smiling (unless teething).
My B
Becca was born on the 14 November by emergency c-section. She was 3.98kg's. She was also born at Vincent Palotti in Cape Town. She is a social child and loves chatting to people and going to school. She absolutely adores her little sister and keeps asking if I have a baby brother in my tummy now. I don't.
