This weekend we went camping at the Hartbeespoort resort. We wanted somewhere not too far to travel on a Friday afternoon and not too expensive with lots of kids facilities. We were not dissapointed. There were 2 main play areas. Both had a kiddy pool and adult pool and a bar and shop. Both areas had jungle gyms, jumping castles and lots of grass with braai facilities. There was putt putt too but I didnt go there as Mario took the girls at the crack of dawn, so no photos. We spent most of the time in the big pool that was heated as Laria does NOT like cold water. There was also a water slide that Beccas friend was brave enough to slide down. On Saturday morning a troop of monkeys raided our camp and got away with our bananas much to the girls' delight and horror. Becca and Megs had a wonderful time and I think theyre both keen campers now. On another note my clever 2 year old is now potty trained. We took the potty with but she prefers the actual toilet. She also fell in love with swimming since the water was warmer (in the warm pool) and we had to drag her out the pool with promises of lollipops to get her out after 2 hours of swimming. This morning the wind had picked up and was quite unpleasant so we packed up early and come home. |

First of all. We have officially lived in Preoria for 1 year. We survived. It's beginning to feel like home though I still miss my life in Cape Town. I'm just grateful we've all settled and the girls are happy in school etc The hubby and I finally found a church we both like, it's a bit of a drive (Centurion) but we like it. We got the girls dedicated to the Lord there last month. Laria has two different outfits as she spilt juice over her top just before the ceremony. Becca had her first carnival day at school. She had to push and drive the go carts to make money for the school. Thank you for all those people that sponsored her fundraiser. We had a good time. Becca went on her first carousel and rode the boats. She also got lost until found. A very busy afternoon, evening indeed. Becca has started playing netball. Her u6 team had two matches this morning. So we all went to Bronkelspruit to watch her very first netball matches. Some extra photos of bike riding cause they're just too cute not to share.
This morning we went to Hartebeespoort to see the dam. It is rather impressive to stand on the dam wall and see the size of it. After that we went to the reptile park and saw loads of animals up close and personal. The girls really enjoyed it. Laria growled at the big cats and they all watched her like she was a tasty snack. Later we went to the Jasmyn farmers market which was fabulous. They have such brilliant prices and produce. We got lots of fruit, cheese etc and then Becca chose a pink gerbera plant and I chose a chili plant. Then we whipped off to Harties meat market which sells biltong at R99 per kilo and made our way home. I feel like it's been a hundred years since I last posted and it has been almost 4 months. Oops. But that's life as a working mom with two children. My school life is going well. I still enjoy teaching. I've also taken an afternoon tutoring job to save up some money and pay off some debt. Busy, busy, busy. Becca's doing well in Grade R and got a lovely report. She loves school and has a new best friend. Laria is growing. She likes school too and is learning her colours etc. She's starting to talk and says tea, take, come, more, wee, poo etc. We went to the Moreleta spruit again so here are some photos. From the photos you'll see how green it is. We have had weeks of rainy weather. Click on the photos to open them properly and see everything. 2013 was a long turbulent year for me. I'm really hoping 2014 ends up a really boring year as I've had quite enough excitement for now. I was a single mom for 3 months as my hubby moved earlier to Pretoria. Laria started school. I packed up all our stuff, said goodbye and moved. We setled in and unpacked. I started a part time job. I did school searches for the girls. I left the part time job and got a full time job. The girls started at a new school. B slipped/tripped on the kitchen floor and got a skull fracture and ended up in hospital. A boy sat on B's arm at school and she had a broken arm. Those were the big things, here were and always are all the little things too, sick children, teething issues, sick husband, stolen phone and jewellery etc, etc. I downloaded photos from my phone of the year. A week ago we went strawberry picking at Lakelands strawberry farm in Pretoria East. They grow organic strawberries. They have a tea garden and kids play area too. Picking starts 9am. We started late though as their website directions and map were different to the actual roads we found on the route. Becca enjoyed picking the strawberries and Laria enjoyed eating them. It was a nice outing, we were lucky it wasn't too hot. Afterwards Laria was exausted and looked a bit like a zombie on the way home. My baby girl is 5. As we're in Pretoria and have minimal family here we had a kiddy party rather than a family party. Her birtday was Thursday so she took cupcakes to school (she helped bake and decorate) them. Thursday afternoon we had cake (she decorated it with smarties) and candle blowing with aunty Shel and her Becca's cousins. On Saturday we had a party at Spur with some of her friends. Most photos below are portrait so you must click on them to see the full picture. It's school holidays (thank gooness, cause I'm beyond exhausted ) so Shel and I took the kids to Jingle Jangle in Moreletta. It has a coffee shop/ restaurant. The prices are reasonable and service was prompt. There are various play areas with jungle gyms, lots of sand to dig in, a bike track, jumping castle, trampolines and a few farm animals. Unfortunately I had to leave early as a certain 1 year old woke up at 5:30am this morning and was grumpy and grouchy and needed her nap, before too long. |
